Following in Taylor Swift's footsteps, Carrie Underwood is working so hard on a new record, and the
project — which will be Underwood’s first studio album since her 2012
platinum-selling Blown Away record — will show another side of her artistry. According
to the singer, this new album will feature a "different sound."
There have been teasers, hints and tweets in the last few
months, all pointing in a new direction. Underwood confirms that new music will
feature a different side of artistry that we have never seen before from her.
"There's definitely a different sound that's coming
together," Carrie Underwood told Country Countdown USA. "I want
everything to have its own space and look different, sound different, feel
different. So I've been working with another producer, as well as with Mark
Bright, who I'm always gonna love, but getting things a little different, and
it's been fun. "There's still a few steps to go, but it shouldn't be too
long," she continued as she said they have already laid vocals and
background vocals.
The Something In The Water crossover hitmaker still has not
provided a release date for her new record, but she's not shy about the new
music she has been creating. "I feel things have a different sort of twang
to them, kind of a rock twang," she shared. "So there should be some
things that fans hopefully have liked about the music we've done, but also a
little growth, a little bit of shift, so still things they've liked but new
things to see, hear and feel."
Ever since Blown Away was released three years ago on May 1,
2012, Carrie Underwood has given birth to her first child, Isaiah Michael
Fisher, who was born in February. Being a mother has influenced her in every
way, she says, including her music.
“It’s impossible to not let your life affect things,” she
acknowledges. “There’s one song that will probably make it on the album that’s
about my husband and our baby; it’s really sweet, and I’m happy to have that
life magic happening in the room, and he’ll be able to look back at it and say,
‘That’s about me!’”
There is no confirmed release date for the new project, but
with Carrie Underwood back to work, it’s likely we’ll start hearing new music
on the sooner side of average.
Fans might find her new music has a bit of an edge to it
that wasn’t there before (most likely pop music with a rock twang instead of
country music).
With no release date or album title has been given yet, she
has eluded to some tracks being inspired by baby Isaiah and that there has been
a lot of progress made.
“So there should be some things that [fans] hopefully have
liked about the music we’ve done, but also a little growth, a little bit of
shift, so still things they’ve liked but new things to see, hear and feel.”
As a change in style makes sense for the country star that
should make pop music for her crossover on pop, she has gone through a bit of
change in her personal life after becoming a 32-year old mother.
Wow, that reminds me of something. Now, here’s my
suggestion/guess for Carrie Underwood’s upcoming next album. Remember I talked
about my ideas for Carrie Underwood’s fifth album in my previous articles? I
already talked about it and I will say it again. How about pop music. Yeah, pop
music is perfect for a country queen who might want to record pop music for her
crossover appeal. In fact, let’s have Max Martin to visit Carrie Underwood and
fix her fifth album’s tracks for the most part by editing her country songs and
turned them to pop music by replacing country twang with pop rock with a rock
twang. That way, Carrie Underwood’s pop music will be more pop rock with a
southern rock twang.
If Carrie Underwood goes in a more pop route, then how about
this: have Carrie Underwood record pop music and have pop music to be pop rock
with a twang. Country music’s Little Toy Guns really worked well. It even let
MTV Hits air the Little Toy Guns music video on Hits Takeover. That would be my
guess. This will allow Carrie Underwood to produce her first pop album and she
might even go in a pop music route allowing Carrie Underwood to take a break from
her country career and to pop music for her crossover appeal towards pop. She
can even collaborate with a pop divas like Demi Lovato or Selena Gomez. That
would be my guess for Carrie Underwood’s fifth album. This will be Taylor Swift all over again. Make it happen.
What do you think? Do you think Carrie Underwood’s upcoming
fifth album will have her first pop music. Do you think Carrie Underwood’s pop
music will be pop rock music with a rock twang? Do you think Carrie Underwood's pop music allows Carrie Underwood crossed over her music to her new pop audiences would be a good thing? Sound off below!
