As you may know that Avril Lavigne hasn’t had a US number 1
since 2007’s Girlfriend after Girlfriend’s success lost Avril Lavigne fans and
lost people’s interest to Avril Lavigne at the same time for the last 8 years.
So it looks like Avril Lavigne will have to move to rock music if she wants to
bring back number 1s. If wants her number 1s and successes back, she has to try
something new. Heck, even Rihanna and Katy Perry will be releasing their 2016
albums. So why not Avril Lavigne?
Although Avril Lavigne has spent the last year battling a
bad case of Lyme Disease, that hasn’t slowed the singer down when it comes to
making new music. In April, Avril Lavigne told Billboard that she had already
written a song about her struggle with the disease and that she had plans to
record a new album and Christmas record.
After releasing the charity single Fly, announcing her role
as Snow White in the upcoming animated film Charming, and making time to sing
Complicated with Taylor Swift, Avril Lavigne is now hard at work on a new
album. Luckily for fans, she’s also sharing plenty of studio pictures as she
writes and records.
By the end of September where Avril Lavigne turns 31, the
I’m With You hitmaker was writing new songs with her soon-to-be ex-husband,
Chad Kroeger. The pair had originally met in the studio to record her previous,
poorly selling, self-titled fifth album, and wrote songs like Give You What You
Like and Let Me Go. Although their romantic relationship is over, they are
still good friends and co-writers. Good thing she was working on harmonies.
Let’s continue.
Now that she’s back in the studio at the mixing board, Avril
Lavigne reportedly told a fan that she’s putting off the Christmas album for
now to focus on a regular studio album. Good choice. She also re-affirmed that
she was writing more rock-based songs; this is what she had stated in mid-2014
when she first started writing songs for her next album. This will be Avril
Lavigne’s first 100% rock album now that pop music has moved on from her. So
even if her newly transitioned rock music will play on rock radio only during
2016, Avril Lavigne’s first rock music videos will gained a ton of views in
Vevo as Japan agreed that Avril Lavigne has to try something new.
However, the recurring appearance of that straw hat in her
Instagram pictures – as well as the “YeeHaw” caption – suggest a slightly
country style. That might be surprising for Avril Lavigne fans, but remember
that she did get her start by singing country covers before releasing Let Go in
2002.
Avril Lavigne is still in the early stages of writing and
recording, but she seems to be very inspired and motivated. It is very likely
that her sixth studio album will be released sometime in 2016. So hopefully,
Avril Lavigne gets to try something new will be Avril Lavigne’s 2010s hit music.
Bratty songs like What The Hell do not work well as her 2010s hit as pop music
got tired of her and the only appeal these days is Japan. Blame Hello Kitty and
Avril Lavigne only appeals Japan for screwing her 2010s hit comeback. Let’s
move on.
In case you haven’t heard, a new animated film is in the
works called Charming, and it stars a handful of well-known singers lending
their vocal talents to the princess characters. Charming will feature Avril
Lavigne voicing Snow White, Ashley Tisdale as Cinderella, and Chinese superstar
G.E.M. as Sleeping Beauty. Demi Lovato is voicing the lead character, Lenore.
But the four girls aren’t just speaking in the movie – they’ll also be
recording a new song together. That’s right, I’m talking about Avril Lavigne and
Demi Lovato recording Fall Out Boy-penned song for new movie.
Fall Out Boy are the writers behind the new song. In a new
interview with InStyle, G.E.M. talked about the track: “The whole experience is
phenomenal. It’s going to be my very first song in English. I’m quite nervous.”
There are no details about the song’s title, what the lyrics are about, or how
the song will sound. Knowing Fall Out Boy, we can probably expect to hear some
clever lyrics and plays on words. Also, given the musical backgrounds of the
involved artists, the song is likely to have a pop rock style.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Charming “reinvents the
stories of three familiar princesses — Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping
Beauty — in the unfamiliar plot twist of all being engaged to Prince Charming.“
Wilmer Valderrama will be playing Prince Charming. The comedic film was written
and directed by Ross Venokur. Charming is expected to be out sometime in 2016,
and we will likely hear the song then.
Avril Lavigne had a rough year thanks to a particularly bad
case of Lyme Disease, but now the pop singer is healthy again and ready to
rock. Avril Lavigne released a charity single called “Fly” in April. The song
is part of this year’s Special Olympics, and proceeds from the song benefit the
Avril Lavigne Foundation and Special Olympics. Avril Lavigne has also recorded a new
song about her battle with Lyme Disease, and it is planned for release later
this year. It’s too bad the music video gained views poorly on Vevo. Blame
Rihanna for releasing American Oxygen music video released the same day Fly’s
music video released on Vevo.
But that’s not all. Avril Lavigne has another big music
project coming up: A new album. And as of yesterday, it looks like Avril
Lavigne is official recording new songs. She posted two photos on Instagram of
her studio work. She started in the morning, and by the end of the day was
finished recording some vocals. Avril Lavigne’s now divorced husband,
Nickleback’s Chad Kroeger, was in the studio with her.
Avril Lavigne told Billboard about her goals of releasing a
Christmas album. However, we may expect to see her Christmas album by late this
year because her Christmas album was put on-hold. So that’s fine. I don’t mind
that. After all, try something new counts as a big release you know.
Alternately, Avril Lavigne could be recording non-holiday
music as I already mentioned earlier. She was writing a lot of “less pop” songs
last summer, and hopefully those will end of on her next regular studio album.
So 2016 would be a smart choice for the next album’s date instead of 2015. Good
move.
We’re still in the early stages, but it looks like there is
plenty happening for the Here’s To Never Growing Up singer right now. She has
set to perform Fly at this summer’s Special Olympics earlier this year, has her
new single about Lyme coming out in the coming months (possible early 2016 as
nobody talked about Avril Lavigne since 2004), and has various non-music
projects lined up: The return of her clothing line Abbey Dawn, movie roles, and
of course more charity work. Meanwhile, Avril Lavigne has a Christmas album
lined up, but ultimately put on hold in favor of her 2016 rock album for fans
and rock music tastes too. So it will likely a standard studio album before a
Christmas album.
So here are my predictions for Avril Lavigne’s 2016 music:
Early 2016 - Avril Lavigne’s first 2016 single (around
February/March)
Spring 2016 – Avril Lavigne’s 2016 album (possible late
spring 2016)
Early Summer 2016 – Avril Lavigne/Demi Lovato collab single
for the upcoming movie, Charming
Mid-Late Summer 2016 – Another 2016 Avril Lavigne single
(most likely a crossover rock single for pop radio)
Late Summer 2016 – Avril Lavigne performing another 2016
single at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards
Mid Fall 2016 – The last 2016 Avril Lavigne single
November 2016 – Avril Lavigne performing the last 2016
single at the 2016 American Music Awards
OK, those are my predictions. For Avril Lavigne’s 2016
music. Now then, album sales are still decreasing including Avril Lavigne
albums. So I was thinking, how about a 2016 Avril Lavigne album released in
late spring 2016 debuting at number 1 selling, I would say, about 100k copies
in the US and then have that album stay in the top 10 for, I think, 2-3 weeks
before the album is out of the top 10. That way, the US album sales prediction
would be, say, around 200k copies in the US. It will be a disappointment in
terms of US sales. But it will be alright as long as it debut at number 1 for
the first week.
OK, that’s it for my 2016 Avril Lavigne predictions. One more thing, it will be a Vevo record. Possibly, Sony or even better, Universal. Well, since Epic Records has moved on to A Great Big World, Meghan Trainor, and Fifth Harmony, Epic might not be the best label as Sony has moved on from Avril Lavigne. So maybe Universal will pick her up. Duh. I miss Arista though. Darn you, RCA. You ruined Arista. Bring back Arista, Sony.
So what do you think? Are you looking forward to Avril
Lavigne’s 2016 music? Do you think Avril Lavigne moved to rock music and try
something new will be her big comeback? Is 2016 a big comeback year for Avril
Lavigne now that she tries something new instead of copy and paste bratty
songs? Are you looking forward to her Charming single with Demi Lovato? Sound
off below!
Music critics know one cares about your stupid opinions. So she didn't have a #1 and lost all her fake trendy fans....Avril Can do whatever she wants
