Remember Palladia from 2008-2015? Well then, it seems that Paladdia is no more. Yesterday was the last day of Paladdia. Today, Paladdia is repleaced by a new MTV series channel called MTV Live. What I'm saying, what MTV Live? You'll find out.
Now then here's what Billboard has to say about MTV Live. Shall we?
"MTV Relaunches Palladia as MTV Live
2/1/2016 by Billboard Staff
MTV is plugging more music back into its programming with the return of MTV Live.
Viacom’s high-definition music network Palladia today (Feb. 1) relaunches as MTV Live, a move the broadcaster says is a step towards “aligning all core music properties under the MTV brand.”
The network has a new logo (see above), look and feel, according to MTV. A slate of documentaries and films on David Bowie, Radiohead, Jay Z, Pink and others are lined up for its first week.
MTV launched its original music-based programming channel Music High Definition (MHD) in 2006. Two years later, the channel changed its name to Palladia. Palladia hosted such specials as the HD simulcasts of the MTV Europe Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, CMT Music Awards and VH1 Hip Hop Honors.
Below is the full MTV Live first-week lineup:
Feb. 1 -- P!nk: The Truth About Love Tour (9:00pm ET)--
Feb. 2 -- Front and Center: Alt- J (Network Premiere) (9:00pm ET)
Feb. 3 -- Best of Austin City Limits: Radiohead (Network Premiere) (9:00pm ET)
Feb. 4 -- Live from Daryl’s House: Joe Walsh (9:00pm ET)
-- Later…With Jools Holland (10:00pm ET)
Feb. 5 -- Jay-Z: Made in America (9:00pm ET)
Feb. 6 -- David Bowie: Five Years (9:00pm ET)"
Thanks, Billboard. As you may know that MTV Live is a new MTV series channel that focus on live tours along with music videos. Come to think of MTV Live, this could be the game changer for both rock music like Foo Fighters and live tours like Pink tours. Seriously, come to think of MTV Live. It looks like there's no more popular music channels as Paladdia is the only popular music channel. MTV Live is a mainstream music channel featuring mainstream music live tours like rock music tours plus music videos like Tori Kelly music videos. This could be a step forward for both MTV and mainstream music because this is mainstream music, not popular music.
With MTV Live, this will be a game changer for MTV's music department because all people listening to music does these days is radio/live tours and the only songs you hear on radio and tours these days is singles and celebrities. Music should do more than just singles/celebrities/radio/live tours. Whatever happened to tv channels like MTV airing music videos/people buying albums/rock music/people listening to music going by the internet? This is why MTV needs to think about music like music videos, not junk programming like reality shows and movies. You hear me, MTV? We want more music like live tours and please make an MTV streaming music service too.
What do you think? Are excited for MTV Live? Do you think MTV Live is a game changer for MTV playing music and rock music? Do you think MTV Live is a step forward for both MTV and live music performance? Do you think MTV Live will be headed towards MTV's direction for MTV's music department? Sound off below!
