Kelly Clarkson Number 1’d Her Piece By Piece’s US Debut Week Sales

Hey everybody, I just want you to tell something that Piece By Piece debut at number 1 on the US Billboard 200 chart thanks to a modest but sufficient sales total. So let’s check it out shall we?

According to Billboard, Piece By Piece debut at number 1 with a first week sales total of 80,502. Interesting. Anyway, Kelly Clarkson’s Piece By Piece had debut atop the Billboard Top Album Sales chart and the 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack will indeed claim the runner-up position as 50 Shades of Grey has moved 57,129 copies in the same week. Now, keep in mind that the typically slight disparity between the Hits and Billboard data will not be enough to change hierarchy.

In addition, the Billboard 200 race, which is based on total “album equivalent” consumption data, is a considerably closer one.

Hits gives the slight edge goes to Piece By Piece. According to the publication, the album’s sales, Track Equivalent Album data (10 single sales = 1 album sale) and Streaming Equivalent Album data (1500 single streams = 1 album sale) combine to form a consumption unit total of 96,002. Great for a Kelly Clarkson album.

Hits lists the 50 Shades of Grey consumption total at 95, 129.

Because the disparity between the Hits and Billboard Data could exceed 1,00, the race is presently too close to call. Billboard will reveal the winner Wednesday morning.

The lowest opening week sales total ever for a Kelly Clarkson studio album was still enough for victory.

So thanks to what Hits Daily Double reports as 80,502 sales, the latest Kelly Clarkson wins the weekly sales race. Billboard’s more authoritative sales figure might differ slightly from the Hits number, but the disparity will not be enough to strip the song of its ranking. It will claim the #1 spot on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart as Piece By Piece wins sales races with 81k against 50 Shades of Grey despite 50 Shades of Grey receive a greater Track Equivalent Album (10 single sales = 1 album sale) and Streaming Equivalent Album (1500 single streams = 1 album sale) boosts more than Piece By Piece.

I’m glad Piece By Piece won the fight against 50 Shades of Grey as 50 Shades of Grey will put up a more threatening fight on the consumption-driven Billboard 200 chart. Let’s be honest, 2011’s Stronger, Kelly Clarkson’s 2011 album, moved 163,000 copies in its first week of release. So selling 80k copies in the first week debuting at number 1 would be fine for the latest 2015 Kelly Clarkson. Now, as I was saying, please pay attention to steaming music like Avril Lavigne as well as albums like digital albums. I want streaming music alongside albums and music videos to dominate the music industry. You got that, US? Thank you.

So what do you think? Are you happy that Piece By Piece debut at number 1 in the first week beating 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack? Do you think Piece By Piece deserves to reach number 1 instead of 50 Shades of Grey? Sound off below!
